LATEST SUPERNOVA SITINGS

Danish astronomer TYcho Brahe has launched his career through an account of a dazzling stellar explosion as bright as VEnus. Later on, his account has turned out to be our Milky way’s supernova!

A team of astronomers today observed the same explosion long after the dying star fizzled out. They did it by the measure, emt of "light echoes", which refers to the light from the original explosion that has reflected off interstellar dust, heading in our direction. The astronomers have also seen faint reflected flashes from Cassiopeia A, which is the most recent supernova known within our galaxy.
